Oxidized LDL, Clinical Aspects and Measurement Methods
It is well recognized that oxidative modification of low-density lipoprotein(LDL) accelerates atherogenesis of the arterial vascular wall. Each of lipid peroxidation products, surface charge, or spectrophotometric patterns is applicable to the evaluation of in vitro oxidation. The lag time may contribute to the evaluation of effect of the lipid lowering and antioxidant drugs. ELISA using monoclonal antibody has the potential for clinical use. However, the applicability is not yet established, because of the different kinds of antibody used.
