The Visions of Clinical Laboratory Informatics in the 21st Century
- Chairman's Introductory Remarks
Masayuki KAMBE, MD, PhD*
We planed the symposium on the future of Clinical Laboratory Informatics such as the title "The Visions of Clinical Laboratory Informatics in the 21st Century".
In the 20th century, we developed many kinds of automatic chemical analyzers, laboratory automation systems and laboratory information systems.
But, we could not use the useful clinical laboratory database enough for the analyses of origin or mechanism of diseases.
Now, we are discussing of what the clinical laboratory informatics should be in the 21st century.
For the applications of clinical laboratory informatics in the first period of the 21st century, we are studying on Evidence-Based Medicine(EBM), molecular biology, medical economy or finance and next clinical laboratory systems.
