Questioning the Role of Laboratory Information from now on
- Offering Useful Information to Medical Care, not only Reporting Results -

Hitoshi ASAYAMA, MT*1 and Syuuji MATUO, MD*2

This symposium was organized in cooperation with the Japanese Association of Medical Technologists. In April of this year, for the first time in history, medical reform adjusting insurance reimbursements downward occurred, and the medical field is in the middle of an unprecedented period of change, as is the surrounding environment of medical technology. Under the severe conditions in which the introduction of a series of outsourcing measures such as branch and FMS is occurring, the department of laboratory science has planned to put focus on offering laboratory information as a part of the role to be performed, and as a course to be taken from the standpoint of people who staff the laboratory science department. We discuss questions of how to offer information in participating in a medical team.
